Give us this mountain – come over to Macedonia and help us
Bible text: Luke 15:11-13; 17-32
- We are going to re-visit the nation of Macedonia, we are going to raise a cry to God our Father, to “give us this mountain of Macedonia”.
- But before we do that, we will again examine ourselves before God this morning, let us ask God to so shine His light in our hearts, where we have behaved or demonstrated qualities similar to the big brother in the above parable, may the Lord forgive us.
- The big brother’s heart was not aligned with that of his father, his heart was not where the father’s heart was. He failed to see the joy that overwhelmed his father’s heart at the return of his once lost son.
- The big brother failed to see that he already had an inheritance in the father: Luke 15:31 “And he said to him, son you are always with me and all that I have is yours”.
- All he needed to do was to be glad and rejoice with his father in that his lost brother had now come to his senses and had re-gained his inheritance in the father.
- What a glorious moment this was for the father!
- In the same manner we that already have an inheritance in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, are we failing to see the heart of our Heavenly.
- Father for lost souls, for lost nations. Do we not know what great joy fills our Father’s heart when a single soul is added to His Kingdom, let alone a whole nation.
- Our heavenly Father has given Himself as a portion, as an inheritance to the entire human race, but some people’s eyes have not yet beenopened to this realisation. God needs our help to intercede on behalf of hose who are yet to become part of this glorious inheritance.
“Ask of me and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance and the
ends of the earth for Your possession”.
Here we see our Heavenly Father asking our Lord Jesus Christ to
intercede for nations.
In turn we too are being asked to intercede for the nations of the earth.
Jesus is our greatest example and before He ascended into heaven He
said in John 14:12, "If you believe, the works that I do, you shall do also, AND
GREATER WORKS THAN THESE SHALL YE DO BECAUSE I GO TO MY
FATHER".
Are we failing to see the God’s plan and desires for the nations of the
earth?
Is there a sense of urgency in our prayers for the nations or are we
unconcerned?
Are we being insensitive to the desires of the Father just as the big
brother was at the return of his brother?
Do you think God will give us this mountain, Macedonia or any other
nation for that matter when we pray without passion or zeal for the
nations. The Bible declares in Joshua 14 that when Caleb said to Joshua
to give him the mountain of Hebron, as his strength was at the age of 45
so it was at 85 years. Caleb was filled with an untold strength, an energy
with which to drive out the Anakims. The Bible also states that Caleb was
given Hebron for his inheritance. Are we prepared as sons of God to
receive Macedonia for an inheritance, that we may present it to Jesus.
The Lord will not cast His pearls before swines, lest we trample them
under our feet.
Every morning when we wake up to pray on this platform, let us come as
soldiers of the lord going into war, as we are fighting spiritual warfare.
The big brother in the parable displayed a high level of irresponsibility
where his little brother was concerned, are we unknowingly, displaying
the same level of irresponsibility to our brothers and sisters in other
nations, when our prayers lack compassion.
It is our responsibility brethren, God has given us this responsibility!
PRAYER POINTS
1. Let us go before God and repent of this spiritual apathy( unconcern,
laziness, dispiritedness, indifferent, lethargy, boredom,
droopiness……etc
2. Ask God to give us eyes of the Father, to see and to know His plans.
3. Pray that we may be filled with the Holy Ghost, to be empowered to do
what God wants us to do so that His will and purpose be established
upon the nations of the earth.
How exciting it is to be a part of this great calling. We live in the day of God's
great purposes on earth. It has already been decreed that Jesus shall reign over
every kingdom on this earth. Nothing shall stop it. Kings cannot stop it. Satan
cannot stop it. Evil devices of man cannot stop it! The gospel will prevail in
every nation.
By our pray for nations, we have made ourselves available to be used as tools
to bring this purpose to pass. Just as Mary made herself available, God was
able to establish His great redemption plan.
4. Pray for God to give us this mountain of Macedonia and that He will fill
the entire nation with the presence of the Holy Spirit, ask for a revival in
Macedonia.
5. Let us Thank God for the presence of Brother Edwin and Sister Bimbo in
Macedonia.
6. Pray that the Holy Ghost will empower them both and that they will
boldly continue to declare the Good News of Christ in Macedonia.
7. Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them into places they would
otherwise never have gone.
