Niger Republic

Niger is a landlocked nation in West Africa located along the border between the Sahara and Sub-Saharan regions, under leadership of Mahamadou Issoufou as the President and its capital located at Niamey. It borders Nigeria and Benin to the south, Burkina Faso and Mali to the west, Algeria and Libya to the north and Chad to the east.

Niger consists of 8 ethnic groups: Hausa people, Zarma people, Tuareg people, Fula people, Kanuri people, Tubu people, Diffa Arabs, and Gurma people

The economy of Niger centers on subsistence crops, livestock, and some of the world's largest uranium deposits. Uranium are use to fuel nuclear power plants, depleted uranium primarily used as shielding material for other radioactive material.

Religion: Islam is the most dominant religion, practiced by 99.3% of the population according to the 2012 census. The other two main religions of Niger are Christianity, practiced by 0.3% of the population, and Animism (traditional indigenous religious beliefs), practiced by 0.2% of the population.

This caught my attention for an heart cry;

Titus 2:11-14 New International Version (NIV)

11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

·      …...for the grace of God. Thank for his grace upon the inhabitants of Niger

·      …...has appeared …. offers salvation to all people. Pray that they will embrace this grace, that He will bring the hearts of men in acceptance.

    ….......Christianity, practiced by 0.3% of the population. Rom 11:3-4 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”? 4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

·      Pray that the Lord will fan to flame (the little spark) remnants in the land.

·      Lord let revival burst forth.

·      Oh Lord work with the disciples present in the land.

·      Oh Lord remove any form of impediments/constraints to gospel in that land.

    Jihadist Attack – The country in the state of grieving:

Just tuesday last week 74 soliders were killed by jihadist, it was reported was the country's worst ever jihadist attack

2 Cor 1:3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 6If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.

·      Pray that God will comfort the entire country and the families of the departed.

·      Pray that God will use this as a great turn around for the land, turning every hearts unto him.
